I feel so much the same about the same things, Edgard. I've wrestled with it myself and decided that as of now, the community I have built here outweighs the evil that lurks in the shadows. That may change at some point of course. Whatever you choose to do, I wish you well. ❤️
Funny, as I was reading this, I was thinking I must tag blue so that she sees this, because we had previously said something similar about the increase in transphobic and misogynistic hate mails from the right, just the other day .....
Seriously, I’ve been avoiding Substack lately 🫠 I even cut back on using notes and moved my space focused newsletter to wordpress. it’s been going pretty well so far. The negativity, hypocrisy and drama here now is just too much. I left social media years ago, came to substack and now it’s starting to feel like the same toxic cycle.
But I love your content so much ♡ Maybe the best move is to just delete the app, focus on posting long form stuff and log off after that.
But yeah, substack just doesn’t hit the same anymore. 🥲
I did notice that recently in your last post! Seeing that post come through from WordPress and not Substack is one of the things that made me think about maybe moving onto another platform. I also have a very toxic relationship with social media and the Notes function on her has become a true cesspool. It really kills the creative desire for me how many things make it into my feed that are truly repulsive... I think the approach you suggested might be what I do for the time being.
I say chill out and see what happens to this new and disturbing content you've stumbled upon. I myself cannot see it lasting, due to its obvious and corrupting nature, let your voice be heard, and mine as well, how vile there content is. As far as substack goes and who they choose to be affiliated with, is on them. Stay strong brother don't let something you seem to cherish slip thru your fingers.
