timid steps to tender hopes
a sonnet about being nervous with love & romance
in the intimate dance of a new relationship, we often carry the rhythm of our past, the echoes of old tunes that sometimes overshadow the melodies of the present. with this poem, βtimid steps to tender hopesβ i aim to mirror this delicate interplayβa heart once sheltered by the cold arms of fear, now stepping cautiously into the warmth of potential love.
this poem, to me, is a personal manifesto of vulnerability. it acknowledges the scars of past loves while permitting the heart to remain open to future joys. it is a reminder to myself, and perhaps to others, that while the dance of love is fraught with the risk of falling, there is immeasurable beauty in the decision to dance again.
timid steps and tender hopes by edgard portela (beneath the boughs of wary-wintered fears, a timid heart tiptoesβtender, yet torn. memories, like thorns of yesteryears, prick promises newly born) in this nowβnaked and neon new, flickers flicker; flame or fume? soft, the unsure sun does through clouds cracked openβdare to bloom. oh my love(my love)whispers wild winds, among the whispersβwonder weaves: can leaf-lush springs from frost-fringed sins unfurlβforgiveβforgetβbelieve? a dance of daring in dim-lit dew, (one two, one two)and trembling, i to you.
